The Bedroom
"Secluded, romantic escape in the Dandenong Ranges"
In stark contrast to the charcoal walls of the rest of the house
the master bedroom is painted pearl white. The wall with floor
to ceiling bookshelves, left black against the white backdrop,
gives the feel of a Japanese screen, further heightened by Asian
objets d'art. The Chinese wedding chest, stems from the Yang Dynasty.
This romantic escape portrays a melange of worlds - mystical
and earth bound, East meets West. It's a perfect setting for discovery,
comtemplation and imagination.
The linen is Pearl white like the walls, or China red as guests
may prefer.
The daybed, covered in poisoned green, and the throw on the bed
provide strong colour accents that are reflected in the greenery
of the courtyard.
Surrounded by a 2m high wall that is softened by plants, the
courtyard is completely secluded from the rest of the garden outside.
There is no need for bedroom curtains in this private bedroom
sanctuary.
Books of the world you will find aplenty and the wedding chest
conceals a television. But watching the moonlit stillness in the
courtyard is by far the most tranquil engagement.
